Yebo Now Privacy Policy

Updated February 22, 2026

Country version: South Africa

Archived versions

At Yebo Now we adhere to the highest standards of protecting your personal information when we process it by virtue of your use of our Services, or by providing us with your personal information in any other way.

This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can update, manage, and delete your information

This Privacy Policy complies with, and facilitates the obligations required from, the South African Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013 (“POPI”), as amended.

We build a range of services that streamlines millions of lives through innovative technology. Our services include:

apps and sites (like Appyble and Heroes)

platforms (like Yebo Now for merchants & shopping)

You can use our services in a variety of ways to manage your privacy. For example, you can sign up for a Yebo Now account if you want to manage all of your orders, keep track of your bookings, and earn loyalty rewards.

You can adjust your profile settings to control whether we collect certain types of data and how we use it to improve your experience.

Working with other notices

While this Privacy Policy covers how we handle your information generally, we may occasionally provide you with specific privacy notices when you use a new feature or sign up for a specific service.

When we do, it is important to read those specific notices alongside this policy so you always know exactly how and why we are using your data. This general policy is meant to support—not replace—those specific, feature-level notices.

Our role and how to contact us

When we decide how and why your personal information is used, Yebo Now acts as the "Responsible Party." In other situations, we may act as an "Operator"—this simply means we are processing your data on behalf of another business, such as a merchant you interact with on our platform.

We have a dedicated Information Officer who oversees our privacy practices and ensures we are protecting your data. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or if you want to exercise your legal privacy rights, please contact our Information Officer using the details below:

Keeping things current

Updating your information

To ensure your deliveries, bookings, and rewards work seamlessly, it is important that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and up to date. If your details change while using Yebo Now, please update your profile settings or let us know.

Changes to this policy

As our services evolve, we may need to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will post the revised version directly on our platforms, and it will become effective immediately.

Your agreement to updates

By continuing to use our apps and websites after we post an updated policy, you are agreeing to the new terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically so you always know how we are protecting your information.

Information Yebo Now collects

We want you to understand the types of information we collect as you use our services

We collect information to provide better services to all our users — from figuring out stuff like which products you like, to things like your unique dietary preferences, or which stores you might like. The information Yebo Now collects, and how that information is used, depends on how you use our services and how you manage your privacy controls.

When you’re not signed in to a Yebo Now Account, we store the information we collect with unique identifiers tied to the browser, application, or device you’re using. This allows us to do things like save your cart, and delivery address and whether to show you more relevant ads based on your activity.

When you’re signed in, we also collect information that we store with your Yebo Now Account, which we treat as personal information

Things you create or provide to us

When you create a Yebo Now account, you provide us with personal information that includes your name (or company details), a password and Master PIN, a phone number, physical address, and financial or bank account information.

Depending on the specific services you use, you might choose to provide us with additional, specialized information. For example, as part of your Yebo Life health profile, you provide us with medical aid details, health and dietary preferences, and the basic information (like name, age, and gender) of any minor dependents. If you are applying to operate as a merchant or driver on our platform, you provide verification details to keep our community safe, such as your ID or passport, driver's license, criminal history, and biometric images. (Note: Your actual payment card details are securely processed by our third-party payment partners, not stored directly by us).

We also collect the content you create, upload, or exchange with others when using our services. This includes things like the chat messages you send to businesses or drivers, the reviews and ratings you leave, the profile pictures you upload, and any feedback or support inquiries you submit to our team.

Information we collect as you use our services

Your apps, browsers & devices

We collect information about the apps, browsers, and devices you use to access Yebo Now and Appyble to make sure our platforms run smoothly and securely. The information we collect includes your device type, browser version, operating system, and mobile network data. We also collect information about how your devices interact with our services, such as your IP address, time zone settings, and cookies.

Your activity

We collect information about your activity in our services, which we use to do things like manage your bookings, process your invoices, and improve the features you use most. The activity information we collect includes your contracts, subscriptions, and survey responses. We also keep a record of your interactions and support history, such as your marketing preferences, support tickets, ratings, and the communications facilitated through the platform (like the chats between you, businesses, and drivers).

Your location information

We collect information about your location when you use our apps. Provided you have enabled the permission in your device settings, we collect your precise or approximate location when the app is running in the foreground or background.

Aggregated (anonymous) data

We often combine and anonymize data to create statistical insights—for example, looking at our usage data to calculate what percentage of users utilize a specific Appyble booking feature. This aggregated data does not reveal who you are and is not legally considered personal information. However, if we ever combine it with your details in a way that could directly or indirectly identify you, we treat it strictly as protected personal information.

If you choose not to share your data

In some cases, we need to collect specific personal information by law or to fulfill our terms of service with you. If you choose not to provide this required data when requested, we may not be able to provide you with access to certain services. If we have to cancel your access or suspend a service for this reason, we will always notify you at the time.

Information we receive from others

In addition to the information you provide directly or that we collect automatically, we also receive information about you from trusted partners and other users.

From other users

We may receive information about you from other people using our platforms. For example, an account holder might provide your details when requesting a service or booking on your behalf. We also receive information from users when they submit details related to a support ticket, complaint, or dispute.

From our partners and service providers

We work with a variety of trusted third parties to provide, secure, and improve Yebo Now. This includes receiving data from service providers who handle identity verification and background checks. To process transactions and manage platform safety, we also receive information from payment gateway providers, insurance and vehicle institutions, and other financial organizations.

From analytics, marketing, and public sources

To help us understand how people find and use our services, we receive data from analytics providers, search information providers, and marketing platforms. In certain situations—usually to protect our community or comply with legal obligations—we may also collect information from publicly available sources or law enforcement agencies.

Why Yebo Now collects data

We will only use your personal information when the law allows us to—such as when we need to fulfill a contract with you, protect our legitimate business interests, comply with legal obligations, or when we have your express consent.

We use the information we collect from all our services for the following purposes:

Provide our services

We use your information to deliver our services. This includes setting up your account, letting you operate as a Customer, Merchant, or Driver, and processing your payments and fees. It also includes facilitating the essential communications between users—like the chats between you, the businesses, and the drivers delivering your orders—and sharing strictly necessary data with our authorized service providers, like our payment gateways.

Maintain & improve our services

We use your information to ensure our platforms are working as intended. This includes troubleshooting issues, performing system maintenance, and providing customer support.

Develop new services

We use the insights we gather from how you use our current platforms to help us brainstorm, design, and build new features and services for the Yebo Now ecosystem.

Provide personalized services, including content and ads

We use your information to customize your experience. This includes making suggestions about services that might interest you and providing you with relevant promotional offers and direct marketing.

Measure performance

We use data analytics to understand how people use our platforms. Analyzing this data helps us improve our app designs, refine our client relationships, and build a better overall experience for everyone.

Communicate with you

We use the information we collect, like your contact details, to interact with you directly. We may engage with you after you contact our support team, or send you important notifications about changes to our Terms, Privacy Policy, or platform features.

Protect Yebo Now, our users, and the public

We use information to help improve the safety and reliability of our services. This includes detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, security risks, and technical issues that could harm Yebo Now, our community, or the public. It also ensures we meet our strict regulatory and compliance requirements.

Your marketing choices

Controlling what you see

We strive to give you clear choices regarding marketing and advertising. You will receive marketing communications from us if you have requested our services or information and have not opted out.

You can ask us to stop sending you promotional messages at any time by using the built-in prompts (like an "unsubscribe" link) in our communications, or by contacting us directly. Please note: Opting out of marketing does not stop us from sending you essential service messages, such as your invoices or booking confirmations.

Third-party marketing

While we use your data internally to improve your experience, we will never share your personal information publicly with any entity outside of Yebo Now for their own marketing purposes unless we get your express, opt-in consent first.

When our purposes change

We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we originally collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for a related, compatible reason. If you ever want an explanation of how a new purpose is compatible with the original one, please contact us.

If we need to use your personal information for an entirely unrelated purpose, we will notify you and explain the legal basis that allows us to do so. Note: We may process your personal information without your knowledge or consent where this is strictly required or permitted by law.

When we share your information

We do not share your personal information with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of Yebo Now except in the following cases:

To make our services work

Because our platforms connect different people and businesses, we need to share information to make those connections happen. We share strictly necessary personal information between Customers, Merchants, and Drivers to facilitate your Appyble bookings, fulfill your orders, and manage deliveries.

We will also share your information, such as your location data, with non-users or emergency services if you explicitly use our platform features to request us to do so.

For external processing

We provide personal information to our affiliates, internal group entities, and trusted external service providers to process it for us. This includes cloud storage providers, payment processors, customer support teams, marketing providers, identity verification agencies, and location integrations (like Google Maps).

We require these partners to process your information based strictly on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and the law. We do not allow our external service providers to use your personal information for their own independent purposes.

For legal reasons and protection

We will share personal information outside of Yebo Now if we have a good-faith belief that accessing, using, preserving, or disclosing that information is reasonably necessary to:

Meet any applicable South African or national law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request (including anti-corruption and crime-fighting legislation).

Enforce our Terms of Service, including investigating potential violations.

Detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.

Consult with our professional advisors, such as lawyers, bankers, auditors, and insurers, who are bound by confidentiality.

If Yebo Now is involved in a merger or acquisition

If Yebo Now is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or restructuring, we may transfer your information as part of that transaction. If this happens, we will ensure your personal information remains protected. If your data will be used in a way that differs from this Privacy Policy as a result of the change, we will notify you.

Cookies and tracking technologies

What they are and how we use them

When you visit our websites or use our apps, we use small text files called "cookies" to automatically collect helpful information. Cookies allow our servers to recognize you when you return, keeping your session active and remembering your preferences.

We also use cookies to track general usage behavior so we can see what features are working well, compile anonymous data to improve our platforms, and work with trusted third-party tools to show you more relevant advertising. Importantly, the information we collect through cookies is not used to personally identify you.

Managing your cookie preferences

You are in control of your browser. If you prefer not to have this information collected, most web browsers have simple settings that allow you to easily decline or manage cookies. By continuing to use Yebo Now without disabling cookies in your browser, you agree to let us use them to improve your experience.

If you choose to disable cookies

Please keep in mind that cookies are necessary to provide you with some of the core features on our platforms. If you choose to disable them, certain parts of our services—like keeping you securely logged in or remembering your ongoing bookings—may not work properly, and your overall access and experience will be limited.

Where your information is processed

Processing data globally

To run Yebo Now securely and efficiently, we work with trusted international service providers, such as global cloud storage platforms. This means we may need to transfer, share, and process your personal information in countries outside of South Africa.

How we protect your data across borders

Regardless of where your information is processed, we apply the same strict protections described in this Privacy Policy. Whenever your data travels outside of South Africa, we ensure it remains safe by implementing at least one of the following safeguards:

Matching legal standards: We transfer your information to countries that have robust data protection laws similar to South Africa’s privacy legislation.

Strict legal contracts: When we use international service providers, we put specific, legally binding contracts and security clauses in place to guarantee your information is processed safely, lawfully, and strictly according to our instructions.

Questions about international transfers

We believe in being completely transparent about where your data lives. If you ever want more specific details about how we transfer and protect your information internationally, you are always welcome to contact us.

Keeping your information secure

Built-in security measures

We build security directly into Yebo Now to protect your data. We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards—such as secure encryption, access controls, and active monitoring—to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, altered, disclosed, or accessed without authorization.

Strict access controls

We strictly limit who can see your data. Only the specific employees, contractors, and authorized agents who have a legitimate business need to access your information are allowed to do so. They only process your data on our explicit instructions and are bound by strict legal confidentiality agreements.

Handling security incidents

No system is impenetrable, but we are prepared. We have robust procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. If an incident occurs, we will immediately take action to secure our systems, and we will notify you and the South African Information Regulator if we are legally required to do so.

Retaining your data

How long we keep your information

We only hold onto your personal information for as long as it is necessary to provide our services to you, or to meet our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. To figure out exactly how long to keep specific pieces of data, we look at how sensitive the information is, the purpose we are using it for, the potential risk of unauthorized use, and what South African law requires.

Anonymized data

In some cases, instead of deleting your data entirely when it is no longer needed, we remove all identifying details so that it can no longer be linked back to you or your business. We may keep and use this completely anonymized data indefinitely for research, statistical analysis, and improving our platforms.

Deleting your data

Deleting your account and information

You are in control of your information. You can request to delete your personal data or your entire account at any time. You can do this through the Yebo Now Accounts Center, or by contacting our support team.

When we cannot delete your data immediately

When you request an account deletion, we will remove your data, with a few necessary exceptions. We cannot immediately delete your information if there is an unresolved issue tied to your profile—such as an outstanding payment, an active dispute, or an ongoing complaint. We must also retain specific data if it is legally required for safety and security, fraud prevention, tax and accounting purposes, or to comply with insurance claims and other legal obligations.

Your privacy rights

Controlling your information

As a user, you have specific legal rights regarding your personal information. You can contact us at any time to:

Access your data: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Update your data: Ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.

Erase your data: Request that we delete or remove your personal information.

Object or restrict: Object to how we are using your data, or ask us to temporarily restrict our processing of it.

Transfer your data: Request that we transfer a secure copy of your information directly to you or to a third party.

Withdraw consent: If we are processing your data based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Making a secure request

Exercising your privacy rights is completely free. However, if a request is clearly unfounded, highly repetitive, or excessive, we may charge a reasonable administrative fee or refuse to comply.

To protect your account, we may need to ask you for specific information to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. This is a strict security measure to ensure we never hand your personal information over to someone who has no right to see it.

Response times

We aim to respond to all legitimate privacy requests within one month. If your request is particularly complex or you have made multiple requests, it might take a bit longer. If we need more time, we will notify you and keep you updated every step of the way.
